Eligibility
- The contest is open to all King George County residents, businesses, and organizations.
- There is no fee to enter.
- All scarecrows must be reasonably sized and visible from the roadway.
- A high resolution photo must be submitted with each entry. No persons are to appear in the photo submitted.
- All participants must submit a completed entry form by Oct. 1 at 11:59 p.m.
How to Enter

All entries must be registered online by Oct. 1 at 11:59 p.m. - Submission
Your scarecrow must be fully assembled and displayed from Oct. 2 through the second Saturday in October. - Limit
Only one scarecrow entry is permitted per person, business, or organization.
Design
Theme
Your scarecrow design must follow one of the following themes
- Fall Festival Theme
- Autumn/Fall Season Themed
- King George County Themed
Construction
Scarecrows must be a reasonable size and visible from the roadway of your home, business or organization. It is recommended for scarecrows to be between 5-7 feet tall.
Scarecrows must be freestanding and all decorations must be durable enough to withstand outdoor weather conditions (rain, wind, etc.).
Content
Scarecrows and their decorations must be family-friendly and abide by the themes listed above.
Voting
All qualifying entries will be advertised to the public on a map for a self-guided tour to view scarecrows across the county.
The general public will vote for the winning scarecrow. Voting will be live the week prior to the Fall Festival, which is the second Saturday in October each year.
Winner
The winner will be announced the next business day after the Fall Festival. The winner will receive an item commemorating their accomplishment.
King George County reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these rules.
