Voters of King George County, just a heads up! If you receive or have received a letter stating that your voter registration is in question, these letters DID NOT come from our office or the Department of Elections.
They came from the Voter Participation Center, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization — unaffiliated with government — that says it seeks to register “under-represented Americans,” specifically unmarried women, people of color and millennials.”
The Virginia Department of Elections says it has received numerous phone calls from concerned voters who had received “confusing mail” suggesting that their voter registration status was in question.
The Department of Elections said Virginia voters can confirm their registration status at vote.virginia.gov, and that they “can disregard any information received from outside entities” that contradicts the state’s official records.
Voters who have additional questions can contact the Department of Elections at (800) 552-9745 or via email at info@elections.virginia.gov.
