Our department would like to announce and congratulate Christina DeGruy on her promotion to an EMS Lieutenant position! A ceremony was held today to recognize her achievement, with presentations from Chief Moody and Division Chief Shawn Simmons about the significance of the badge and the bugle in the fire service.

Lieutenant DeGruy began her career with King George in 2015 as a Paramedic, and has been an integral part of B shift, stationed on the busiest medic unit in the county since then. She has responded to hundreds of calls every year, treating her many patients with the upmost care and compassion, while also receiving training and education to further her professional development.

Lieutenant DeGruy has been an effective lead mentor for many of our volunteer and career providers, enabling the release of newly certified providers to act as attendants in charge, and has also served in the capacity of a billing administrator for EMS transports as a collateral duty (in all her spare time). She has very recently completed our department's EMS to Fire probationary handbook, successfully passing the cognitive and skills portions of the release testing process.

Lieutenant DeGruy will begin acting in her new position on C Shift, where her experience, knowledge, and mentoring abilities will be a huge asset to all those she comes into contact with.

We'd like to thank Lt. DeGruy's family for their support and sacrifices that they have made over the past six years, and congratulate and thank Lt. DeGruy for her hard work and dedication thus far in serving this community and fulfilling the mission of this department. Congratulations Lt. DeGruy!
