Calvin H. Garner, age 91 of Fairview Beach, VA passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty May Fines Garner; granddaughters, Angela and Tracy Reynolds; son-in-law Terry Newton; step-grandson, Lennie McLennan; his parents, Luther and Lena Garner; three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by two daughters, Wanda McLennan (Lee) and Marty Newton; two grandsons, Aaron Reynolds (Blakeley) and Derek Newton (Seasun); one granddaughter Christa Marshall (Joey); a step-grandson Raymond McLennan (Sydney); seven great grandchildren, Carson and Luke Marshall, Cora and Owens Reynolds, Harper Newton, Frankie and Victoria McLennan and one sister, Gloria Pepper.
Calvin served in the Navy/Marines and he retired from the Naval Surface Warfare System as the Chief of Security for the Naval Base. He was an avid waterman on the Potomac River, crabbing and fishing. He enjoyed telling stories and had many to tell. He was a lifetime member of the Fairview Beach Volunteer Fire Department and one of the initial members to start this organization.
Calvin's wishes are to be cremated and to have his and his loving wife's ashes interred together. A graveside service will be held at Potomac Baptist Church on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00am. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately after the service at Fairview Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
