About Us

Welcome to the King George County Department of Fire, Rescue & Emergency Services web page. The department is a combination of volunteer and paid and is comprised of many dedicated men and women.

Combined Operations

In June of 2008, the King George County Board of Supervisors enacted an ordinance that combined all fire and rescue operations throughout the County. Today, our team of dedicated men and women, both volunteer and paid staff, work side-by-side at all three stations to ensure adequate fire and EMS protection. The members of our department continually strive to become more proficient and take various fire and EMS training programs to ensure their readiness. If you are interested in joining our team as a volunteer or as a paid firefighter or EMT, we encourage you to apply.

Services

We proudly serve the citizens with a variety of "all-hazard" services, including, but not limited to:

  • Advanced life support
  • Basic life support
  • Emergency and disaster planning
  • Fire prevention
  • Fire suppression
  • Hazardous materials mitigation
  • Public education
  • Vehicle rescue
  • Water rescue

These services are provided 24 hours a day, operating from three stations throughout the county. The department protects approximately 28,000 residents and covers 182 square miles. The department responds to over 4000 calls for service annually and operates using mutual-aid agreements with surrounding localities and the Naval Activity South Potomac - Dahlgren Naval Base to ensure the community is safe.

Headquarters - Company 1

In October 2007, the new Company 1 Fire and Rescue Station was opened. This station houses Fire Administration, Operations, Fire Prevention, Training, and Emergency Management. The Company 1 station also houses the County's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and backup 911 center.

Our Company 2 Dahlgren Station provides services to the Dahlgren area of our county. Currently, there is a project to build a new Dahlgren Station. View our county's Current Projects map to stay updated on the progress.

Our Company 3 Fairview Beach Station provides services to Fairview Beach and other areas in the western part of our county.
